Manju Gupta, the Executive Director of the Cancer Patients Aid Association (Rehab), has been recognized with the prestigious Shikshashree Samman 2024 for her exceptional contributions to social service, particularly in supporting cancer patients. Her unique approach demonstrates how education can be effectively utilized for the public good in the social sector.
The award, presented by the Consulate General of Turkey, Chunait Yavuzkan, was given at a ceremony organized at the Classic Club in Andheri (W) by the Shikshadan Abhiyan Federation, under the Shikshadan Abhiyan of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Through the Mahalakshmi Unit of CPAA Rehab, Manju Gupta’s efforts provide economic support to cancer patients and their caretakers by offering employment opportunities. This initiative has become a lifeline for needy cancer patients who travel from across the country for treatment but cannot afford costly medications and treatments. CPAA Rehab also arranges monthly food grains and essential items for patients and their caregivers. Additionally, the patients are trained to create various artistic items such as diyas, purses, chandeliers, wall pieces, and decorative pots, which help to awaken their hidden creativity, boost morale, and provide financial support. There is also a partnership with five-star hotels for the VIP sale of these beautiful and artistic products.
During the felicitation ceremony, the Consulate General praised Manju Gupta’s inspiring work, while the event organizer, Mr. Rajesh Shrivastav, commended her unwavering efforts. He also appealed to the capable members of society to make significant contributions to this cause.
The ceremony was graced by notable personalities including actor and comedian Sunil Pal, Shri Sanjeev Bansal,Mr.Brijendra Gupta,Dr. Summan R Agrawal, singer Madhushree, Padmashree Shoma Ghosh, Dr. Shyamm Singhania, Captain Kumar Raj, and others.
