Decision to grant ‘Classical Language’ status to Marathi is a matter of pleasure for Marathi people”

Mumbai, October 4:- “The historical decision has been taken for granting the status of Classical Language to Marathi in the cabinet meeting of the union government chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This decision has pleased the Marathi people and all those who have preserved the Classical literature should be credit for this success,” said Deputy Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis expressing happiness over the decision to fulfill the long pending demand.
The renowned delegates from various sectors today met Deputy Chief Minister Shri Fadnavis in Mumbai to welcome the laudable decision of the union government. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed his happiness on this occasion. The chief of Rajya Sahitya Sanskruti Mandal Dr Sadanand More, SharanKumar Limbale, Padma Shri Namdev Kamble, Poet Praveen Davne, Kaushal Inamdar, singer Vaishali Samant, Narendra Pathak, actress Madhura Velankar, Aditya Davne, Nikita Bhagwat, poet Durgesh Sonar, Baliram Gaikwad, poet Praveen Deshmukh, Prof. Latika Bhanushali of Granthali, Arun Joshi and others met the Deputy Chief Minister, today.
Fadnavis humbly told them that they have welcomed him and as a representative he is accepting the greetings, adding that it is a matter of congratulating each other for the entire Marathi community. He said that because this subject was under consideration of the union government, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi took initiative for taking this long awaited decision. He also thanked the prime minister for granting the status of Classical Language to Marathi.
Speaking further, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Fadnavis said that the language which inspired us, which gave us faith, courage and compassion has been given the status and recognition and following this decision, the responsibility of all of us has further increased.
He further said that as a state government whatever role we have to play for the promotion and campaigning of Marathi language, will be done in the best possible way. He said that the Marathi language should not be the language of consultation but it should become the ‘Language of Knowledge’. He also appealed to all to think over and chalk out the ways in which Marathi language can be established as knowledge language and asked all to take efforts in this direction.
