Mumbai, October 3: Today, Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated various initiatives of the Skill Development Department. At the event, ITI Mumbai at Elphinstone Technical School was renamed as Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Government Industrial Training Institute, Mumbai. Additionally, the Sant Gadge Baba Swachh Bharat Prabodhini was inaugurated at Goregaon, Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati, and Nagpur by distinguished guests.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister of State Chaudhary said, “Today is a historic moment, as we are renaming the institute which is located in the college where Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, a revered figure for all of us, once studied, and launching six academies under the name of Sant Gadge Baba Maharaj, who spent his life emphasizing the importance of cleanliness. It is a matter of great joy. The thoughts of these two great men should be embraced by our youth as they take the lead in developing skills and helping India become the third-largest economic power. The Maharashtra government has taken significant decisions for skill development. Through the state government, we have established a Skill University for youth, which is the only one of its kind in the country, focusing on skill-based education and direct employment opportunities. This is a matter of pride, and the state’s Skill Development Department has created a unique identity for itself in the nation through its innovative initiatives, which is commendable.”

In a conversation with the media, Minister Lodha added, “Renaming government institutes after Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is not just a tribute; it is a step towards empowering thousands of youth to become self-reliant, inspired by his ideals. Along with this, we have also launched the Sant Gadge Baba Swachh Bharat Prabodhini, echoing the same spirit of cleanliness that Sant Gadge Baba championed. Just as he cleansed Maharashtra of its waste back in the day, today, Mumbai needs a similar clean-up campaign to rid the city of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators.

Under Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha’s vision, the Sant Gadge Baba Swachh Bharat Prabodhini was first established in Thane. Based on its success, the Prabodhini is now being launched in Goregaon, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Amravati, and Nagpur. The first batches at the Thane Prabodhini have completed their courses, and students have now received job opportunities through the Bharat Vikas Group.

In the recent cabinet meeting, a decision was made to rename 14 government industrial institutes across the state. As part of this, the ITI Mumbai at Elphinstone Technical School has been renamed as Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Government Industrial Training Institute, Mumbai. A few days ago, Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha had also announced that 26 government industrial institutes would be renamed.

At the event, representatives of the Sant Gadge Baba Swachh Bharat Prabodhini, including Deepti Jadhav from Mumbai, Suraj Mahajan from Pune, Sagar Bharti from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pramod Dungi from Nashik, Pradeep Katkar from Nagpur, and Prafulla Bhusari from Amravati, were felicitated.
